The Department of Religious Studies is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Turner has been named a 2020 Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Fellowship for the academic year 2020-21. With this fellowship, Dr. Turner will be working on a book project that explores the historical connections among jazz, African-American Islam, and black internationalism from the 1940s to the 1970s.
The ACLS Fellowship program honors scholars in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who have the potential to make significant contributions to knowledge in their fields.
Congratulations, Dr. Turner!
