Dr. Kristy Nabhan-Warren has authored a new book that explores the meatpacking industry and the immigrant experience. Meatpacking in America: How Migration, Work, and Faith Divide the Heartland, scheduled to be released Sept. 21 by the University of North Carolina Press.
In preparation for writing this book, Nabhan-Warren spent years interviewing meatpacking plant workers and owners and weaving together the voices and stories of native-born white Iowans and migrants from Mexico, Latin America, Asia, and Africa who come here to work.
