Peter Miller successfully defended his dissertation, "Usual Labors and the Wealth of Philosophy: Syriac Monastic Education in the Fifth through Ninth Centuries" on April 14 under the supervision of his advisor, Paul Dilley with support from Sarah Bond, Robert Cargill, Craig Gibson, and David Michelson.
Following graduation this May, Peter will be participating in the "Forgotten Christianities" seminar series as well as travelling to Bamberg, Germany at the end of July to join the Network for Medieval Arts and Rituals summer school, "Teaching (in) the Middle Ages." Peter begins research and writing for his doctoral dissertation in Classics this fall, where he will continue work as a graduate teaching assistant.
Outside of professional work, Peter will be spending the summer planning for his wedding with Religious Studies alumna Ashley Byrd (MA, 2017) this November.
