Yunhwa Kim

Biography

Yunhwa Kim is a first-year PhD student in Religious Studies whose research explores Buddhist ethics and lived practices in contemporary East Asia, with a specific focus on gender. Before beginning his doctoral studies, he worked as a journalist in South Korea for four years.

Since 2021, he has been contributing monthly to IPKU (https://www.ipku.co.kr/), a Korean web magazine devoted to secular and everyday forms of Buddhism, where he continues to explore the intersection of religion, ethics, and daily life. 

He earned his BA from Korea University in 2018 and studied Buddhism at the Graduate School of Buddhist Studies, Dongguk University, from 2022 to 2023.
